Who We Support

Addiction affects individuals and families in different ways.

– Individuals struggling with substance use

– Behavioural addictions (e.g., gambling, compulsive habits)

– Partners and family members affected by addiction

– Adults seeking structured, addiction-informed counselling

How Counselling Helps

Addiction counselling focuses on practical, realistic change.
Rather than quick fixes, the work involves understanding patterns, building skills, and making gradual, sustainable adjustments.

Counselling may help clients:

– Identify triggers and cycles
– Develop coping and regulation skills
– Improve boundaries and communication
– Reduce harmful behaviours
– Work toward realistic goals

Research supports the use of structured counselling approaches in helping people change substance use patterns and improve overall functioning.

Our Approach

Counselling at Vice Addictions is active and focused. Sessions are meant to be useful, not just a place to talk. The goal is to help you better understand what’s been happening and decide on realistic next steps.

Some people come in looking for practical tools to handle urges, stress, or difficult emotions. Others want help sorting through patterns, relationships, or decisions that keep leading them back to the same place. Counselling is adjusted to what you actually need and what you’re ready to work on.

Addiction is often connected to feeling stuck or unsure about direction in life. Part of the work can involve getting clearer on what matters to you and what you want your life to look like moving forward. Change tends to last longer when it connects to personal values rather than pressure from others.

Our clinicians are trained in established addiction counselling approaches and follow professional and ethical standards of practice. Sessions are confidential, respectful, and grounded in real-world understanding of how change happens.

Getting Started

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, but the process is straightforward.

1) Book a free consultation
A brief virtual consultation allows you to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and see if the practice feels like a good fit. There’s no obligation to continue.

2) Intake and goal-setting
If you choose to move forward, we gather some background information and clarify what you want support with.

3) Begin sessions
Meet virtually with a counsellor and begin working toward practical, realistic change at a pace that feels manageable.

Some people attend short-term counselling, while others prefer ongoing support. This can be adjusted over time.
